Types of Bodywork
Craniosacral Therapy(CST) is a light contact modality that invites the body to self-correct through skilled touch, conscious presence, deep stillness and a working knowledge of anatomy, physiology and embroyonic development. CST may help to bring an overall sense of health and well-being. It may be helpful for relief of many pain conditions, depression, anxiety, insomnia, breathing issues, chronic headache and many other conditions. A CST session is conducted on a massage type table with the client fully dressed and bolstered with pillows for comfort. Sessions vary in length.
Myofascial Release is a therapy that involves stretching of the fascial tissues with the goal of easing tensions in the body that may have formed due to inefficient postural alignment and movement, trauma, surgery, illness and physical and emotional stress. The practioner works to create space in the tension and a sense of length in the body, improve the cellular metabolism by optimizing the flow of nutrients and wastes to and from the cells, improve the range and quality of movement and optimize integration of body, mind and spirit in a holistic manner. Clients may be asked to wear gym type clothing such as shorts and for women sports bra and shorts for the session. Sessions are conducted on a massage type table and session length varies.
Zero Balancing is a modality that addresses the relationship between energy and the structure of the body. Zero Balancing follows a 30-45 minute protocol that requires skilled touch to identify tension in the bones, joints and soft tissue and create points of balance around which the body can relax and reorganize. Zero Balancing helps clear blocks in the body’s energy system, amplify vitality and contributes to better postural alignment. This will help to relieve body aches, release restrictions of movement, and provide lasting relief from emotional distress to improve overall quality of life. Zero Balancing can also be used for specific goals such as improve relief from back pain, improving concentration, improving quality of sleep, eliminating unwanted stress or boosting well-being. Zero Balancing sessions are conducted on a massage type table with the client fully dressed and bolstered with pillows for comfort while on the table.
Acupressure is very similar to Acupuncture but without the needles. Using principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specific points on the body (meridians) are held with gentle finger pressure to release and rebalance the flow of energy through the body. This helps to release stress and discomfort in our body. Utilizing this modality in my practice has been very successful in helping clients to release holding patterns present in the body from past trauma both physical and emotional. I use this modality regularly for clients with PTSD and depression. Sessions are conducted on a massage table with the client fully dressed.
Aromatherapy is a wonderful addition to any session. Combining the wonderful aromas and healing properties of the essential oils with any of the bodywork sessions can result in a profoundly relaxing and healing session. I have been working with essential oils for about 15 years and have found that getting back to the root of medicine, which really began with plants and herbs, has produced amazing results for my clients in relieving their pain and increasing their overall well-being. I work with my clients to produce a blend that is specifically tailored to the individual based on a thorough consultation to determine what oils are right for you. Consultations are free and are scheduled separately from bodywork sessions.
